As a certified EFT therapist and supervisor, my work helps couples and individuals develop skills to restore trust, communicate and express feelings effectively, understand and resolve differences, and enhance intimacy (www.eft.ca). It is my passion to help couples, families, and individuals repair their connections and create secure and lasting bonds with those who matter the most.

“Individuals can be healthier, relationships can be strengthened, family bonds can be stronger, and we can be nourished by our secure attachments with those we hold most dear. This is accomplished with tools that increase our authenticity and more clearly express our needs. Creating secure and healthy connections with those who matter the most can help us feel better and help heal our relationships.”

I also work with military service members and their spouses in my private practice as well as in weekend retreat formats. The focus of this program, Strong Bonds, Strong Couples, LLC, is to support couple re-integration after deployment. The impacts of deployment and combat are addressed and contained in order to help the military couple and family feel better together.

Working with CEOs and their partners who are experiencing higher stress due to their life/work pressures is another aspect of my practice. My husband, Don, and I work with groups of CEOs and their partners around the United States to help contain the stress of work pressures and build more secure connection between the partners.

Thank you for your interest in my counseling practice! I've practiced in the mental health field since 1990, and have extensive experience working with many different sorts of mental health problems. The quality that most defines my counseling style is non-judgmental acceptance. You'll find I put little emphasis on assigning blame: yours or anyone else's. Rather, I'm more interested in changing what's not working. I find that the first step involves unconditional acceptance of the way you are now. Thus, you'll find I place a great deal of emphasis on understanding you accurately, as a whole person.

I work with individuals, and specialize in helping distressed couples. I have been a registered emotionally focused couples therapist since 2007.  I believe that partners need comfort and safety in their relationship. I help couples achieve that by helping both of you better understand each other's hearts.

I'm located in a beautifully wooded setting adjacent Loudoun Hospital in the Lansdowne area. I offer full receptionist support and evening appointments. There are psychiatrists in my group practice if medication management is desired. I can also provide a wide variety of area referrals.

I am a full time practicing clinician near the Loudoun Hospital Center in Lansdowne, Virginia.  You can view my web page at: http://therapists.psychologytoday.com/rms/36755.html
